Co-Chair vacancy on Skills Award Task Group

09 August 2019

The AGCAS Skills Award Task Group is seeking a member to become a Co-Chair.

The new group member will Co-Chair the group alongside Jessica Jung (Newcastle University) and will have specific responsibility for the group’s work in developing:

  • Research and knowledge
  • An annual webinar
  • Employer contact.

About the Task Group

The Skills Award Task Group represents the key central functions and staff in HE institutions that are responsible for coordinating institutional employability and personal development awards. The group consolidates existing research, shares good practice and formulates new research, enhancing sector awareness and understanding of existing award schemes.

The group informs the wider AGCAS community through the production of materials and the provision of workshops, webinars and events while externally developing collaborative networks with employers and sector bodies for the benefit of the wider community.

Task Group plans and events

Following a successful networking event held in June 2019, for the 2019/20 academic year the group will be focusing on: organising a webinar in spring 2020; organising a national Skills Awards conference in summer 2020; continuing with existing research to explore the impact of Skills Awards and developing a Directory of Skills Awards. The next group meeting will be held in September 2019.

What the group is looking for

The group is looking for a committed individual who wants to contribute to national work on Skills Awards including research, dissemination and organising events to raise the profile of Skills Awards and explore their position and impact within a rapidly changing HE and employability landscape.

We are seeking an organised and collaborative Co-Chair to help lead the group to realise existing and new objectives. Experience of planning and delivering webinars and/or events would be an advantage, as would experience of practitioner research and/or dissemination.

We are looking for candidates who are working in a geographical area of the country not currently covered by existing members.

You will need to be able to attend up to three meetings per year, two of which are face-to-face. You will also need to devote time to developing resources and taking part in organising and/or delivering training.

Please note applicants should seek Head of Service / Line Manager agreement on their potential involvement in the Task Group before applying.
