Vacancies on the Placements and Work Related Learning Task Group

The AGCAS Placements and Work Related Learning Task Group are seeking to recruit four new members to join their group and are interested in nominations from the AGCAS network.

About the task group 

The group is active and enthusiastic and is very keen to welcome new members working in any role within a careers, placements or employability service who have an interest in work related learning. The group will comprise eight members, we meet up to three times a year to discuss a range of issues connected to supporting AGCAS members working with students, graduates, and employers in a wide range of work related learning. 

Output from the group will include

  • Inspiration Guides showcasing the work of a variety of institutions in the provision of work related learning
  • AGCAS web content to showcase useful resources for careers, employability and placements staff engaged in placements and work related learning.
  • Collaboration and consultations with external bodies to highlight projects, publications and initiatives
  • AGCAS training days as well as AGCAS Annual Conference provision including workshops and showcases as applicable.

What we are looking for 

We are looking for four new members who will complement the existing knowledge base and experience within our Task Group and enable us to represent the diversity of member institutions. 

We are open to applications from those interested in all elements of the group's work, although we are particularly keen to hear from applicants with an interest in the following areas:

  1. Data informed approach to practice
  2. Research into work related learning
  3. None traditional work related learning practice
  4. Expertise around use of technology to support/enhance work related learning lifecycle
  5. Experience developing initiatives to tackle underrepresentation in work related learning activity in order to improve social mobility

 Applicants must demonstrate an interest in creating useful resources for AGCAS members on the website in one or several of the above areas.

You will need to be able to attend three meetings per year, and ideally be able to commit to a 3-year tenure. You will also need to devote time to developing resources/taking part in organising and/or delivering training, etc.

How to apply 

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Placements and Work Related Learning Task Group please submit your CV and a short statement (guideline of around 500 words) explaining your interest in joining, any relevant experience and what you believe you could contribute. A Word document would be preferred, as submissions will be circulated to current group members to read.

Applicants will be expected to have already sought agreement of their potential involvement in the Task Group from their Head of Service/Line Manager before applying.
