Vacancy on AGCAS Disability Task Group

10 September 2021

The AGCAS Disability Task Group is seeking to recruit a new member.

About the group

The Disability Task Group (DTG) currently comprises seven members and we meet virtually throughout the year. The meetings give the opportunity for us to share good practice and to plan activities in order to support AGCAS members in their work with disabled students and graduates.

The group’s recent activities include:

  • The 18th What Happens Next? report on the first destinations of disabled graduates
  • A webinar: ‘Supporting disabled students in navigating recruitment processes for graduate employment opportunities’
  • A blog with useful articles and information
  • Online resources on topics such as ‘Reasonable adjustments (neurodiversity)’ and ‘Working with disabled students and graduates – some frequently asked questions’

Additionally, the DTG has established links with policy makers and influential others, inputting into discussions around current policies and agendas. Such policies and agendas aim to benefit disabled students and graduates, AGCAS members, and the higher education sector.

What we are looking for

We are an active and enthusiastic group and are keen to welcome anyone working in any role within a careers and employability service who shares our interest in helping disabled students and graduates.

We are looking for a committed individual who is keen to contribute to the activities of the Disability Task Group and who will bring fresh ideas on how we can help careers service professionals to support disabled students and graduates.

The activities you are likely to be involved in may include: designing & delivering training/webinars, creating new resources/updating existing resources, contributing to the blog, and taking minutes at Task Group meetings.

Inclusivity statement

We want our task groups, working groups and volunteer networks to reflect our diverse membership and seek volunteers that will help us to celebrate our professional expertise and experiences.

We welcome volunteer applications from all members and affiliates working at all levels and within the different facets of the careers and employability profession; regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, ethnicity, cultural background or intersecting identities.

Interested?

Please feel free to contact Disability Task Group Chair Edmund Lewis with any questions you might have about the group or for an informal conversation.

How to apply

If you are interested in becoming a member of the group, please complete an application form and submit to volunteering@agcas.org.uk by 17:00 on Wednesday 6 October 2021.
