Vacancy on AGCAS Creative Industries Task Group

The AGCAS Creative Industries Task Group (CITG) is seeking to recruit a new Chair. 

About the group

The group currently comprises 7 full time members and 1 co-opted member and meet several times a year to: establish a community of good practice, comprising of Careers and Employability professionals and relevant industry partners; provide guidance to the wider AGCAS community about the creative sector; and support those working with students and industry partners through research and trends in the sector.

What we are looking for

We are an active and enthusiastic group and are keen to welcome new members who are working with the creative industries (using the DCMS definition of “those industries which have their origin in individual creativity, skill and talent and which have a potential for wealth and job creation through the generation and exploitation of intellectual property”).

The current membership includes careers guidance practitioners, employer engagement specialists, a head of service and a co-opted member from the Creative Industries Federation. The current membership work with a diverse range of creative subjects such as fashion, visual arts, graphic design, stage and screen, music, games and animation.

We are looking for a new member to Chair the Creative Industries Task Group. This role will involve, but is not limited to:

  • chairing task group meetings
  • leading the task group to prioritise and set the CITG agenda, which could include (but is not limited to) research, event planning, liaison with professional bodies
  • strategic planning for the group, including relevant documentation
  • selection of new task group members should vacancies arise
  • liaising with AGCAS and attending Task Group Chairs’ meetings as appropriate
  • sharing of relevant information with the wider AGCAS community as required

Applicants should clearly demonstrate their knowledge and experience of the creative industries, and how they can contribute to the workings of the Creative Industries Task Group. The new Chair will be selected on the basis of their knowledge and expertise, leadership capabilities and vision for the next phase of the task group’s activities. Factors such as current job role, location and subject specialisms may be considered to ensure balance of interests in the CITG membership.
