Vacancies on Skills Award Task Group

The AGCAS Skills Award Task Group is seeking to recruit two new members.  

About the group

The group currently comprises four full time members who meet several times a year (currently all meetings are taking place remotely) to represent the key central functions and staff in HE institutions that are responsible for coordinating institutional employability and personal development awards. The group consolidates existing research, shares good practice and formulates new research, enhancing sector awareness and understanding of existing award schemes.

The group informs the wider AGCAS community through the production of materials and the provision of workshops, webinars and events while externally developing collaborative networks with employers and sector bodies for the benefit of the wider community.

Task Group plans and events

Following a successful networking event held in June 2019, and a webinar in March 2020, the group is currently considering how best to support skills award providers during this academic year. For the first half of 2020/21 the group will therefore be focusing on:

  • Continuing research to explore the impact of skills awards using mixed methodologies;
  • Further developing our Case Study series and Directory of Skills Awards;
  • Possible delivery of further webinars in spring 2021 (TBC).

What we are looking for

We are an active and enthusiastic group and are keen to welcome new members who want to contribute to national work on skills awards including research, dissemination, and organising events to raise the profile of skills awards and explore their position and impact within a rapidly changing HE and employability landscape.

You will need to be able to attend three meetings per year, all to be held remotely in 2020/21. You will also need to devote time to developing resources, contributing to research and dissemination and organising and/or delivering training and events.

We are particularly looking for representation from London or the South East region or non Russell Group universities to ensure a diversity of institutions are represented.

Applicants will be expected to have already sought agreement for their potential involvement in the task group from their Head of Service and/or line manager before applying.
