UNIVERSITY OF READING WINS THE AGCAS RESEARCH INFORMED PRACTICE AWARD 2018

05 September 2018

The winner of the AGCAS Research Informed Practice Award 2018 is the University of Reading for their continued development and successes on The Thrive Mentoring Scheme.

Thrive is the University of Reading’s award-winning careers mentoring scheme. The university has successfully explored, piloted, broadened and grown the project to where it is today – successfully supporting over 400 partnerships through 9-10 months of mentoring annually.

Thrive has been informed through research. It began with a part-time PhD in Career mentoring and has grown to encompass an extensive scheme evaluation and further research into mentoring and aspiration raising.

The University of Reading has been particularly effective in the dissemination of their research and practice surrounding Thrive. In this they have been able to share best practice with those in the sector, and encourage many HEIs to move towards mentee selection of mentors via a published profile. This has been reinforced in AGCAS through establishing the new AGCAS Career Mentoring Task Group, coordinated by the Thrive’s Career Mentoring Manager.
