Seeking nominations for the AGCAS Community Director role

The AGCAS Nominations Committee is seeking nominations from AGCAS Full Members for the role of Community Director.

To ensure representation across regions and devolved nations on our Board of Directors, the committee are keen to receive applications from members based in:

  • Scotland
  • Wales

The Nominations Committee will shortlist candidates for election based on the role criteria and will give due consideration to the Board’s current membership to ensure it is representative. View the Nominations Committee Terms of Reference.

Community Director responsibilities

The Community Director, supported by the Head of Member Services, is responsible for the community pillar of our strategy. Their remit will include areas such as:

  • Task groups
  • Region and devolved nation support
  • Member-to-member communications
  • Subscriptions
  • Awards for Excellence.

The Community Director will be able to set the direction of our community agenda in line with the strategy. Projects that the former Community Director led on included:

  • Establishing governance and reporting procedures for task groups
  • Establishment of AGCAS Cymru Wales and the Alumni Network
  • Development and delivery of a new website
  • Changes to AGCAS Awards for Excellence to increase nominations and communications about those shortlisted.

Expected commitment

Nominees need to be able to commit to the time requirements of the role and the legal obligations of being a trustee. The duration of the term is initially three years, with an option of a second three-year term.

All AGCAS business meetings are currently held online. It is expected this arrangement will continue until at least August 2021.

Who should apply?

Applicants should have a strong empathy with AGCAS’s mission, together with an in-depth understanding of our work and ambitions, which includes a commitment to the sharing of expertise and promotion of the careers and employability profession.  

Nominations are sought from colleagues with a track record of commitment to the work of AGCAS and to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion, as well as experience of operating within a charitable, public sector or commercial organisation board.

  • Announcement of Community Director: 8 March 2021
