The winner of the AGCAS Outstanding Newcomer Award 2018 is Kezia Falconer from the University of Glasgow.

Kezia has been consistent in driving forward efforts to engage alumni and support career development across the Development & Alumni Office and Careers Service at the University of Glasgow. Her passionate personality has inspired alumni, students and colleagues to become more involved, all while making the challenge of working in a large organisation, across multiple services, seem effortless.

In her institution, Kezia is widely considered an innovator, collaborator, influencer and connector. Through this she actively seeks out new opportunities to share best practice, participates in external conferences and has the ability to build strong and meaningful relationships both externally and with alumni.

The Snapchat Takeover, which Kezia piloted in March 2017, was a momentous success, and was a significant factor in the University of Glasgow winning the AGCAS Best Student Engagement Award in 2017. The Snapchat takeovers were key in bringing new and relevant opportunities to students and the university as a whole, and she was recognised across the sector for her work on this project.

Kezia is admired by students and colleagues alike. Of Kezia current student and President of GU Tradition Investment Club, Andreas Damtsas said “she has shown a genuine interest in understanding the student perspective and enhancing our careers and employability prospects”. Linda Murdoch, Director of the Careers Service at Glasgow, added “Kezia’s drive and creativity has had a hugely positive impact on our staff … The results of her influence speak for themselves with many, many more students connecting with our alumni and our service”.
