GOLDSMITHS, UNIVERSITY OF LONDON WINS THE AGCAS SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION AWARD – GROUP 2019

05 September 2019

The winner of the AGCAS Significant Contribution Award – Group 2019 is Goldsmiths, University of London for its new, institution-wide approach to employability.

Low and declining Graduate Prospect scores convinced the Goldsmiths senior management team of the need for change. The mantra became: Employability is everyone’s responsibility. Creating and implementing an institutional employability strategy has transformed culture, practice and outcomes, all within 18 months. Publicising the approach taken across AGCAS has taken 12 months. Since summer 2017, the whole team has transformed all aspects of its work, demonstrated impact and shared lessons with the HE careers community.

Judges comments

Of the winner, the judges said:

‘This is a comprehensive submission with great evidence of impact. An example of what can be achieved if multiple best practice techniques and a comprehensive strategic approach to employability are adopted by an institution. The judges were ‘impressed by how the careers service convinced the University to give them more staff!’
