Recruitment for peer reviewers - AGCAS Membership Quality Standard

The AGCAS Professionalism Working Party [PWP] are seeking to recruit Peer Reviewers for the AGCAS Membership Quality Standard. With the Quality Director and the PWP, Peer Reviewers will work with member services in the self-identification of good practice and opportunities for development through the completion of a review.

Reviewers will

  • Attend all appropriate training and meetings
  • Review a confidential self-evaluation document (SED) for each service
  • Take part in a remote peer review discussion by telephone, Skype or virtual meeting with the Head of Service/Designated Service Representative. The appropriate method can be agreed between the Reviewer and the Head of Service/Designated Service Representative
  • Complete summary and feedback form following peer review discussions for each service and send to the AGCAS staff team within agreed timescales.

Time Commitment

  • Preparation for, and attendance to, the Peer Reviewer training in April 2019 (exact date TBC)
  • Preparation for, and completion of, peer reviews for up to three services including write up of feedback reports
  • Preparation for, and attendance to, the Peer Reviewer Meeting in Late August / Early September 2019 (exact date TBC).

In addition, involvement in general peer reviewer matters throughout the year, including discussions by email and through AGCAS’ virtual Workspace.

Remuneration

The role of Quality Standard Peer Reviewer is not accompanied by any financial remuneration, although expenses incurred as part of the role may be claimed.

Person Specification

Experience,

  • Proven leadership experience including building and sustaining relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues to achieve objectives
  • Interest in and/or experience of quality standard related activities for higher education, especially in the field of careers and employability
  • A track record of commitment to the work of AGCAS and promoting professionalism 
  • A history of impartiality, fairness and the ability to respect confidences including dealing with difficult conversations and providing constructive feedback.

Knowledge, skills and understanding,

  • Commitment to AGCAS and a willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to fulfil the commitments outlined above
  • Understanding of a wide range of effective careers and employability quality methodologies and support techniques
  • Willingness to keep abreast of changes and development within higher education student career development and graduate employment
  • Proficient in MS Office and e-learning software is an asset
  • Strong communication skills
  • Organisational and time management abilities
  • Good independent judgement and strategic vision with the capacity to work collaboratively, harnessing and navigating different perspectives.
