Vacancy on the Teaching and Related Professions Task Group: Deadline Extended

06 May 2021

The AGCAS Teaching and Related Professions Task Group is seeking to recruit a new member.

About the group

The group currently comprises 5 full time members and 1 co-opted member, and meets three times a year, currently online. Our remit is to provide AGCAS members with a source of up to date information and advice relating to application systems, training and recruitment for teachers and prospective teachers across the nations of the United Kingdom. We run events, provide a regular newsletter and take part in the annual updating of the Target Teaching guides. We liaise with colleagues in the Department for Education to run periodic online information events for AGCAS members.

The Group also produces and updates the Education Alternatives publication, which provides information on a wide range of career options available to graduates, interested in education related jobs as an alternative to teaching.

What we are looking for

We are an active and enthusiastic group and are keen to welcome members who have an interest in supporting students and colleagues interested in the important and varied world of teacher training and recruitment. We look for members who are keen to contribute to events and publications.

We are particularly interested to recruit a new member who has a strong knowledge of the teacher training, recruitment and application systems in Scotland. This is to ensure that we have on board adequate expertise concerning the differing systems across the UK.

We would like to invite the new member to join our next task group meeting, which will take place on Monday 28 June (pm).

Please feel free to contact Paul Barnes at The University of Portsmouth with any questions you might have about the group or for an informal conversation.

How to apply

If you are interested in becoming the member of the group, please complete an application form and submit it to by the extended deadline of 17:00 on Friday 4 June 2021.
