Vacancy on Employer Engagement Task Group

15 January 2020

The AGCAS Employer Engagement Task Group is seeking to recruit a new member.

About the group

The task group currently comprises 8 full time members and meets face-to-face twice a year alongside regular conference calls to update on projects and discussions.  We also maintain an active email list and Microsoft Teams site where we collate content, resources and updates.

The group’s principal aims are to:

  • Enhance professional practice in the area of employer engagement.
  • Contribute to the fulfilment of the Community element of the AGCAS strategy and its impact on AGCAS members, the Higher Education (HE) careers profession and wider society through the delivery of its key objectives
  • Create a sense of common purpose so all AGCAS members feel engaged and represented
  • Ensure that the task group’s activities are within the charitable objects of the articles of association

Some of the group’s most recent achievements include:

  • Organising the 2nd AGCAS Employer Engagement Conference in June 2019, welcoming 130 AGCAS EE professionals.
  • Co-delivery of AGCAS training for Employer Engagement professionals in June and December 2019
  • Reviewing and refreshing training content and designing an E-Induction toolkit for EE new starters.

The group’s upcoming plans include:

  • A joint AGCAS/ISE research project now underway to enhance professional practice in Employer Engagement, working with employers and universities which will be presented at AGCAS Annual Conference in June 2020.
  • Developing and delivering further training and networking opportunities for AGCAS member employer engagement professionals including the biennial AGCAS Employer Engagement Conference.
  • Creating and sharing best practice case studies to share amongst the AGCAS community and refreshing our online ‘communities’ online.
  • Discussing and sharing best practice around employer engagement.

What we are looking for

We are an active and enthusiastic group which is geographically diverse (representing England, Scotland, Wales and the OU) and across different student demographics, institutional sizes and mission groups. We are looking to recruit a member who brings diversity to the group and is energised about the work we have coming up.

Please feel free to contact the group Co-Chairs with any questions you might have about the group or for an informal conversation:

  • Andrew Wright, Head of Employer Engagement at King’s College London
  • Lucy Everett, Employer Engagement Manager at the University of Edinburgh
