Vacancy on the AGCAS Postgraduate Taught Task Group

communities-bannerThe AGCAS Postgraduate Taught Task Group is seeking a new member to enhance their strong, proactive team. This is an exciting time to join the group to further develop how AGCAS members work with postgraduate taught (PGT) students.

About the task group

The group is involved in AGCAS training and have run several one day conferences to focus on postgraduate issues: Accelerate: Get Your PGTs Moving Faster (2017)Working with Postgraduate Taught Students (2015) and MBA Information Day: Sharing Good Practice (2013). The group has also developed resources for practitioners such as the Postgraduate Toolkit and an Introduction to Working with Postgraduate Students.The group also have involvement with external organisations and conferences where members have contributed to projects and presented on postgraduate employability topics, including UKCGE and UUK conferences.

The group's future plans include:

 • Reviewing our online provision of resources and communications for practitioners
 • Developing training/networking for AGCAS members
 • Liaising with relevant groups and organisations to collaborate and provide a PGT lens on projects and initiatives.

Person specification

The group is seeking a new member who will complement the existing knowledge base and experience within the task group, and enable the group to represent the diversity of AGCAS member institutions and their PGT populations. If you have a particular remit or an interest in postgraduate taught students and think you can bring new perspectives and ideas to the task group then we’d like to hear from you.

You will need to be able to attend three meetings per year, two of which are face-to-face, and commit to a minimum of a two year tenure. You will also need to devote time to developing resources and taking part in organising and/or delivering training. Applicants will be expected to have already sought agreement of their potential involvement in the task group from their Head of Service or line manager before applying.

Task group members will be at the AGCAS Annual Conference in Nottingham in September and would be happy to meet with any prospective applicants. The group will be running an afternoon workshop on Tuesday 5th September.
