Vacancy on the Teaching and Related Professions Task Group

09 October 2020

The AGCAS Teaching and Related Professions Task Group is recruiting a new member.

About the group

The group currently comprises four full time members and one co-opted member, and meets three times a year, currently online. Our remit is to provide AGCAS members with a source of up to date information and advice relating to entry criteria, application systems, training and recruitment for teachers and prospective teachers across the nations of the United Kingdom. We run events, provide a regular newsletter and take part in the annual updating of the Target Teaching guides. We also liaise with colleagues in the Department for Education to run periodic online information events for AGCAS members.

The group also produces and updates the Education Alternatives publication, which provides information on a wide range of career options available to graduates who are interested in education related jobs as an alternative to teaching.

What we are looking for

We are an active and enthusiastic group and are keen to welcome new members who have an interest in supporting students and colleagues interested in the important and varied world of teacher training and recruitment. We are looking for members who have an interest in contributing to events and publications.

We are particularly interested to recruit members who have a very strong knowledge of the teacher training, recruitment and application systems in Wales or Northern Ireland. This will help the group. This is to ensure that we have on board adequate expertise concerning the differing systems of teacher training across the United Kingdom.

Please feel free to contact Paul Barnes, Task Group Chair, with any questions you have about the group or for an informal conversation.

How to apply

If you are interested in becoming a member of the group, please complete an application form and submit to by 17:00 on Monday 2 November 2020.
