Vacancies on Research and Knowledge Committee

07 February 2020

The AGCAS Research and Knowledge Committee is seeking to recruit two new members.

AGCAS’s vision is to be recognised as the expert organisation for policy consultations and opinion on higher education student career development and graduate employment. Research and knowledge is one of our five strategic pillars that will enable us to meet this vision and our Research and Knowledge Committee plays a key part in making this happen. The Committee seeks to drive and shape the expertise and intelligence in HE student career development and graduate employment that AGCAS creates, co-creates and champions members in creating. This is a dynamic area of our work that is becoming embedded across all AGCAS activity as we increasingly draw on research and knowledge in policy and practice.

Why join the Committee?

As a member of the committee you will have the opportunity to work with careers and employability colleagues nationally who are passionate about research, and other relevant sector bodies engaged in research (recent partners include the ISE, HECSU and HEPI) to help deliver the committee’s strategic activities;

  • Oversee the fulfilment of the AGCAS strategy in areas of research and knowledge affecting the careers profession and wider society;
  • Identify emerging ideas, issues, needs and expectations to inform planning and priority areas for research and knowledge creation;
  • Encourage and promote innovation in research and knowledge policy and practice;
  • Provide opportunities for AGCAS members to develop excellence in research and knowledge capacity and identify channels to showcase and disseminate members’ research;
  • Engage with external stakeholders and sector bodies through employability related research to position AGCAS as the UK and Ireland leaders in HE student career development and graduate employment.

This year, the committee has been reviewing and refining research proposals submitted by other AGCAS task groups, developing a research repository to showcase the variety of careers and employability research undertaken across the sector, and scoping the creation of a ‘How to’ guide to research for members interested in research. You can learn more about the work of the committee and read the Terms of Reference here.

The committee will meet physically twice per year and once virtually. Members are appointed for a three-year term.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for AGCAS members who want to champion research-informed practice in the sector and contribute to positioning AGCAS as the leading experts in HE student career development and graduate employment.
