05 September 2019

The winner of the AGCAS Research Informed Practice Award 2019 is the University of West London for their study into the effect of interactive Forum Theatre interview skills workshops on the employability of Fashion Business and Social Work undergraduate students.

The study explores how taking a collaborative approach to developing interview skills with first generation HE students, through the delivery of interactive Forum Theatre workshops, improves student confidence and success at graduate placement and job interviews. The study promotes social justice and social mobility in graduate employability.  The study included 14 Fashion Business and 21 Social Work undergraduates. 12 of 14 Fashion Business participants (85%) successfully applied for an industry placement and all 21 Social Work participants successfully applied for a professional placement.  Participating students commented:

‘This was an invaluable session as I could see first-hand how to handle an interview, and how I might appear to an interviewer’

‘It was so much fun, and using what I have learnt I have secured an internship with a major fashion brand, I am thrilled’
