UNIVERSITY OF LEICESTER WINS THE AGCAS SUPPORTING STUDENT - GRADUATE EMPLOYABILITY AWARD 2019

The winner of the AGCAS Supporting Student/Graduate Employability Award 2019 is the University of Leicester for its initiative to embed the Leicester Award as a credit-bearing element in first year core modules across all undergraduate programmes.

Embedding career development programme the Leicester Award into existing academic content as a credit bearing component has achieved large scale, accessible, engaging and discipline-specific delivery. A focus on critical thinking supports students to become better learners across academic, personal and professional contexts, and increases the likelihood of undertaking valuable professional experience.

Professor Paul Boyle, University of Leicester Vice Chancellor, notes:

‘The programme is integral to maximising the success of students during their time at Leicester and securing their next step after University’

Of the winner, the judges said:

‘This project shows clear demonstration of impact, innovation, learning gain measures and evaluation of effectiveness. [The Leicester Award] is a long-term project that is still working and has robust evidence of impact’
