Two vacancies on The AGCAS Health and Related Professions Task Group

The AGCAS Health and Related Professions Task Group are seeking to recruit two new members to join their group and are interested in nominations from the AGCAS network.

About the task group 

The group is active and enthusiastic and is very keen to welcome two new members working in any role within a careers, placements or employability service who have an interest in professions in the health sector. The group comprises of eight members, including the AGCAS Liaison Officer for NHS, and meet up to three times a year to discuss a range of issues connected to supporting AGCAS members working with students, graduates, and employers across the health sector. 

Output from the group will include:

  • A community of practice for sharing and promoting good practice and the discussion of professional issues.
  • Information including labour market information and support to colleagues working with students and trainees within the health sector.
  • Networking events and training for AGCAS members with an interest in health sector careers work.
  • Programme of webinars on health related topics.
  • Updates about changes to professions in the health sector and to contribute to AGCAS responses to consultative documents received on health sector topics
  • A point of contact for employers, professional and regulatory bodies
  • Representation of members’ views to other parties e.g. HEE, UKFPO.

What we are looking for 

We are looking for two new members who will complement the existing knowledge base and experience within our Task Group and enable us to represent the diversity of member institutions. 

We are open to applications from those interested in all elements of the group's work, although we are particularly keen to hear from applicants with experience in the following areas:

  1. Medicine and Dentistry
  2. Nursing and Midwifery
  3. Allied Health Professionals e.g. Physio, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Speech and Language Therapy, Optometry, Audiology etc. (this is not an exhaustive list)
  4. Pharmacy
  5. Biomedical/Life Sciences (within heath sector)
  6. Postgraduate professionals in training across the health sector.

You will need to be able to attend three meetings per year, and ideally be able to commit to a 3-year tenure. You will also need to devote time to developing resources/taking part in organising and/or delivering training, etc.

How to apply

If you are interested in becoming a member of this Task Group please submit your CV and a short statement (guideline of around 500 words) explaining your interest in joining, any relevant experience and what you believe you could contribute. A Word document would be preferred, as submissions will be circulated to current group members to read.

Applicants will be expected to have already sought agreement of their potential involvement in the Task Group from their Head of Service/Line Manager before applying.
