Staff Changes at AGCAS

25 March 2019

The AGCAS Board and management team have considered how to best support our aims and objectives as a result of the strategy we launched in December 2016. This has led to some restructuring of staff responsibilities.

We have seen significant growth in our member-led activities, including 60% of our learning programme now being produced by members. As a result, we have decided to bring staff support of our Community, Quality and Learning activities together under the leadership of Marcus Andrews. Marcus’ job title will change from Membership Manager to Head of Member Services.

Working with Marcus and the Learning Committee, existing AGCAS staff members are taking on new roles: Erica Imhof has been appointed to the role of Professional Development Manager and Moira Dodd has been appointed to the role of Sponsorship and Booking Officer.

In order for us to continue to build on our volunteers' expertise and deliver more knowledge outputs, events and advocacy activities, we have created a new role for a part-time Membership Manager, which will provide greater support in this area and take operational responsibility for Task Group, AGCAS Liaison Officer (ALO) and regional/devolved nation group activities.

In recent years the higher education landscape has taken an increasingly political turn, which obliges AGCAS to ensure that our staff structure has the capacity to respond effectively to this context on behalf of our members. As a result, we have decided to bring staff support of our Research and Knowledge and Advocacy activities together under the leadership of Gemma Green. Gemma’s job title will change from Research and Knowledge Manager to Head of External Relations. Working with Gemma, there will be a new role of Policy and Research Manager. This role will have a focus on interpreting our research for use in advocacy and external relations.

We will be recruiting for the new roles in the near future.
