Seeking nominations for the next AGCAS President

The AGCAS Nominations Working Party is seeking nominations from Full Members of AGCAS for the role of AGCAS President.

To ensure wide representation across regions/nations, the working party is especially seeking applications from:

  • Scotland
  • the West Midlands
  • the South West region
  • the South East region

The Nominations Working Party will shortlist candidates for elections based on the role criteria and will give due consideration to the Board's current membership to ensure it is representative. View the Nominations Working Party's Terms of Reference

Expected commitment

Nominees need to be able to commit to the time requirements of the role and the legal obligations of being a trustee. The duration of the term is just under three years: 

  • As President-elect, Board Director and trustee from 9 October 2019 until 1 August 2020.
  • As President from 1 August 2020 - 31 July 2022

During their term of office, the President is supported by Board colleagues and the AGCAS staff team.

Who should apply?

Applicants should have a strong empathy with AGCAS's mission, together with an in-depth understanding of our work and ambitions. The successful candidate will act as a champion for AGCAS and the HE careers profession with external stakeholders, policy makers and the wider HE sector. Applicants should have in-depth knowledge of current priorities and challenges in order to understand and represent in the diversity of our member services. 

Nominations are sought from colleagues with a track record of commitment to the work of AGCAS and to promoting equality and diversity, as well as experience of operating within a board in a charitable, public sector or commercial organisation. Applicants need not have previous experience of being on the AGCAS board.
