Oxford Brookes wins AGCAS Award for Partnership with Professional Services 2017

13 September 2017

The winner of the 2017 AGCAS Award for Partnership with Professional Services is Oxford Brookes University for their partnership with the Directorate of Human Resoruces (HR) and Access Tier 5.

The aim of the project was to help improve the employability of the university’s international graduates. The university carried out a pilot project to make the Oxford Brookes Graduate Internship Scheme for UK and EU graduates available to non-UK graduates. The Careers and Human Resources departments collaborated with the organisation Access Tier 5 who sponsored the successful graduates, allowing them to remain and work in the UK using the Tier 5 Temporary Worker – Government Authorised Exchange (GAE) immigration category.

The partnership has helped to form a strong tie between the two departments of the university. It is already proving to be very beneficial to those enrolled and has raised awareness of support for international students. It also provides clear evidence to encourage other employers in the region that Tier 5 GAE is a workable option for those wishing to employ international students for a period after studies.
