Judge the AGCAS Awards for Excellence 2020

30 January 2020

Nominations are now open for the AGCAS Awards for Excellence 2020 and we are putting a call out for shortlisting judges. Join the panel of Full and Partner Members if you are interested by emailing us with the subject 'Shortlisting Judging 2020' by midday on Monday 16 March 2020, including:

  • your contact details
  • which award(s) you feel you could best shortlist (details for each award can be found here)
  • up to 200 words outlining what you could bring to the opportunity and why it is of interest to you

What would I have to do?

Judge entries for any award category with fairness and impartiality. We would like our volunteers to support us with the first stage of judging. This will require the judges to read the nomination given, score according to the criteria provided and return the completed scoring sheet(s) by email.

When do I have to be available?

The nominations and shortlist sheets will be sent to the shortlisting judges week commencing Monday 16 March 2020 and completed shortlisting scores will need to be returned by midday on Wednesday 8 April 2020.

My service is planning to enter a category, can I still be a judge?

We would be delighted for any Full or Partner Members to be involved. You will not judge any category that your service has entered. As the full judging process is confidential, the decisions made at shortlisting stage will not be discussed further by the final judges. The final judging panel will only discuss entries that have made the shortlist to decide the winners. This will ensure that the winners will not be known until the awards ceremony on Wednesday 17 June 2020.

Do I need to be a Head of Service or Manager to be a judge?

No, we welcome all members with expertise and experience to take part.

Can 2019 judges apply?

Yes, combining previous judges with new judges will help AGCAS refine the process. Please email us to let us know that you're interested in judging again this year and the category. No need to re-apply.

How will judges be chosen?

Decisions will be made based on the supporting information requested above. If anyone is unsuccessful on this occasion, we will keep their details on file as there may also be opportunities to judge other awards that AGCAS is involved in.

If you have any questions about the awards process please contact us.
