Jo Timmins wins the AGCAS Significant Contribution Award 2021

The winner of the AGCAS Significant Contribution Award 2021 is Jo Timmins from the University of Huddersfield.

Over 17 years Jo Timmins has made an outstanding contribution to the Careers and Employability Service at the University of Huddersfield through roles ranging from Widening Participation Project Assistant through to Team Leader. Latterly, as Careers Consultant for the Huddersfield Business School she has driven up student engagement and through her infectious enthusiasm has forged working relationships with academic stakeholders and those from Professional Services and the SU. Her unremitting focus on improvement, and inexhaustible supply of ideas and initiatives is widely valued by her managers, peers and collaborators, enriching the work of the Service at a University-wide level.

Judges' comments

"The quality of evidence in this nomination was very strong, and the judges were very impressed with the breadth of impact Jo’s work has had on her service. What stood out was the new policy on embedding graduate attributes on all new courses – institutional change that Jo’s work was pivotal in initiating."

The winner was announced at the AGCAS Awards for Excellence showcase webinar on 25 June 2021.
