Glasgow wins AGCAS Award for Student Engagement 2017

13 September 2017

The winner of the 2017 AGCAS Award for Student Engagement is the University of Glasgow for their use of online events to strategically engage students.

In March 2017 the Careers Service launched a brand new series of online events: ‘The Network Snapchat Takeover Series’. The first was in collaboration with the Beatson Cancer Charity, a new local charity. The Snapchat takeover followed five University of Glasgow alumni who are now working at the charity in various roles, giving students an insight into their career journey. It was the first Snapchat content of its kind for the university and resulted in an audience of over 62,000. The takeover was showcased at the Council for Advancement & Support of Education Conference in March as an example of a bold and innovative way of engaging students.

The revised student engagement strategy has resulted in increased student participation with the Careers Service both on and offline. Student attendance across all recruitment fairs increased by 37% and student attendance at Careers Manager seminars rose by 29%.
