Dundee wins AGCAS Award for Technology 2017

13 September 2017

The winner of the 2017 AGCAS Award for Technology is the University of Dundee for its integration of WordPress blogging into credit-bearing internship modules.

The new internship modules make use of WordPress blogging to engage students in reflective practice, help them capture their learning gain, improve their digital literacy and boost their employability. This contextually relevant approach to reflection and action planning is achieved as students forge stronger connections between their internship, classroom learning, assessment and future employability.

The online portfolios have enabled students to tangibly demonstrate the work they have carried out during their internships. This has resulted in many students securing paid summer jobs or continued work experience with their internship providers. This innovative new assessment has enabled the Careers Service to have a positive impact on embedding digital literacies within wider the curriculum, which is a key strategic priority for the university.
