Alisdair McKibben wins the AGCAS Outstanding Newcomer Award 2020

The winner of the AGCAS Outstanding Newcomer Award 2020 is Alisdair McKibben from the University of Aberdeen.

Since joining the Careers and Employability Service at the University of Aberdeen in October 2018, Alisdair has been an extremely effective careers adviser, educator and co-curriculum programme leader. He has revitalised the University’s flagship internship programme, worked creatively with academics to create and enhance curriculum courses and increased the employability of students through special events and exceptionally good advice and guidance.   His early work with senior university managers, academics and employers has made a major impact on the development of the strategic and operational activities of the service particularly with regard to student employability and internship provision.

Judges comments

Of the winner, the final judging panel said:

“It is very impressive how Alisdair has embedded himself within the careers service and beyond. His contributions to a range of different subject areas is particularly strong. He is not only doing lots of valuable work, but making a significant strategic contribution. The feedback is exceptional, particularly as it comes from such a wide range of stakeholders.”
