Vacancy on AGCAS Employer Engagement Task Group

15 June 2020

The AGCAS Employer Engagement Task Group is seeking to recruit a new member.

About the group

The task group currently comprises eight full time members and meets face-to-face twice a year, alongside holding regular conference calls to update on projects and discussions. We also maintain an active email list and Microsoft Teams site where we collate content, resources and updates.

The group’s principal aims are to:

  • Enhance professional practice in the area of employer engagement.
  • Contribute to the fulfilment of the Community element of the AGCAS strategy and its impact on AGCAS members, the higher education (HE) careers profession and wider society through the delivery of its key objectives
  • Create a sense of common purpose so all AGCAS members feel engaged and represented
  • Ensure that the task group’s activities are within the charitable objects of the articles of association

Some of the group’s most recent achievements include:

  • Development and delivery of a large scale AGCAS/ISE research project to enhance professional practice in Employer Engagement, working with employers and universities – the first stage findings being shared at the AGCAS Alternative Conference in June
  • Organising a series of virtual panels, webinars and forums during summer 2020 to enable Employer Engagement professionals to share ideas, updates and intelligence on topics including virtual events, internships, careers fairs and the future of Employer Engagement in light of the Covid-19 pandemic
  • Working directly with ISE and other networks to enhance understanding of the latest labour market intelligence subsequent to the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Organising the 2nd AGCAS Employer Engagement Conference in June 2019, welcoming 130 AGCAS EE professionals.
  • Co-delivery of AGCAS training for employer engagement professionals in June and December 2019

The group’s upcoming plans include:

  • A further phase of the AGCAS/ISE research project which we are maintaining in light of Covid-19 to track longitudinal progress across the sector
  • Development of new AGCAS training and networking opportunities for employer engagement professionals to deliver in late 2020
  • Creating and sharing best practice case studies to share amongst the AGCAS community and refreshing our online ‘communities’
  • Discussing and sharing best practice around employer engagement.

What we are looking for

We are an active and enthusiastic group which is geographically diverse (currently representing England, Scotland, Wales and the OU) and across different student demographics, institutional sizes and mission groups. We are looking to recruit a member who brings diversity to the group and is energised about the work we have coming up.

Please feel free to contact the group Co-Chairs with any questions you might have about the group or for an informal conversation:

  • Andrew Wright, Head of Employer Engagement at King’s College London
  • Lucy Everett, Employer Engagement Manager at the University of Edinburgh

How to apply

If you are interested in becoming a member of the group, please complete an application form and submit to by 17:00 on Thursday 9 July 2020.

Our next Task Group meeting is scheduled to be held virtually in September 2020. Ideally the new member would be able to attend.
