AGCAS Phoenix, February 2016 – Employer Engagement
The call for articles for this issue coincided with the publication of BIS’s report Understanding Employers' Graduate Recruitment and Selection Practices and the government’s call for responses to its proposals for HE reform as outlined in the green paper, Fulfilling our potential: teaching excellence, social mobility and student choice. With both papers commenting to a greater or lesser extent on the relationship between employers and HE careers and employability services, not least how the impact of engagement activity might translate to improving employment outcomes for students and graduates, never has there been a more appropriate time to showcase the excellent practice taking place in AGCAS member services across the country.
In this issue, there are articles outlining the various ways HE careers and employability services are working with different types of employers. We hear about new and old approaches, the realities of managing student and employer expectations, social mobility, the evolution of employer events and some of the main drivers behind employer (and university) targeting and selection.
