The Careers Service at the University of Reading supports 15,000+ students across 33 departments in defining and achieving their career ambitions.  Our 35-people strong team was recently named “Best Undergraduate Employability Service 2018”.

We are now looking to appoint a new Employer Engagement Manager.

This is a key role for the department and University. You will be setting the strategic direction for our department’s employer engagement and business development activities, as well as oversee and ensure their operational delivery.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing a proactive and data-informed employer engagement strategy, ensuring the University is recruitment partner of choice for many leading organisations. You will be developing and enhancing the provision of work experience, internships, volunteering opportunities as well as full time roles in the UK and internationally. You’ll be working towards bringing employers, recruiters and alumni onto campus and into active and informative conversation with our students. You will be contributing to the advisory work the Careers departments does across the university, ensuring your insight into latest developments in graduate recruitment help inform and shape University strategy and practice.

As a member of the Career Service management team you will also directly work to inform and develop Careers’ overall departmental strategy.

You will have:

  • A real passion for the world of work. You actively follow the latest developments in the national and global economy, across an eclectic range of topics and sectors.
  • Expert insight into large scale graduate recruitment processes, but equally the drive and ability to support unstructured recruitment within niche sectors
  • A natural approach to networking, highly nuanced stakeholder and business development skills and very good presentation and communication skills
  • A customer-oriented and collaborative approach to work
  • A data driven approach to strategy making: the ability to define strategic direction and operational plans based on analysis of your stakeholders’ and clients’ needs 
  • Experience with CRM and related IT systems, and a track record of using technology to scale your work
  • Ability to develop projects and activities at scale
