Vacancy Description:

The Foundation for International Education (FIE) is an international educational organisation working in partnership with universities and colleges in the US to provide immersive study abroad programs for undergraduate students in London, Dublin, and Amman.  

FIE is seeking an experienced professional to oversee, direct and develop the Experiential Education Team in the delivery of its London internship provision and related curriculum and projects. This includes leading strategy and innovation within the area and motivating EE staff.

Job Title: Director of Experiential Education

Location: South Kensington, London, England

Salary: £34,000-37,000

Preferred Start Date: As soon as possible, or by 1 March 2020

Job Summary: This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative tasks and the deadline-orientated placement process.  This work includes researching and identifying work experience opportunities, networking in a varied range of job sectors, and maintaining relationships with site supervisors, visiting faculty, and home campus coordinators.

Required skills & qualifications

  • Substantive competence working in international and/or experiential education
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field
  • An understanding of the international education sector
  • Demonstrable competence in leading and motivating staff in a demanding work environment
  • Excellent organisational and administration skills with a high attention to detail
  • The ability to prioritise a complex workload in a busy office
  • Excellent communication, presentation and IT skills

Desired skills & experience

  • Experience working with internship or work experience placements or in career services
  • Knowledge of working with international students, particularly from the US
  • Understanding of the American higher education system
  • Previous personal experience of having studied and/or worked abroad 
  • Strength in presenting in front of large groups of people
  • Experience advising or counselling students
  • A good working knowledge of London and its industries
