 The University of Hertfordshire is looking for 3 proactive Careers Advisors to join our forward looking, quality accredited Careers and Employment Service to work as part of an award-winning team providing a wide range of support for students and graduates.

We particularly encourage applications from men and BAME candidates who are under-represented in the University in this area.

Main duties and responsibilities

You will work as part of a dedicated team to deliver face to face and online career development activities, such as guidance appointments, workshops, and in-curriculum delivery, using flexible learning technology.

The work within this fast-paced service includes utilising a range of data and labour market information with insights, to inform collaboration with academic schools, external stakeholders and content curation and development. The Careers Advisors will also work on initiatives to help the University ensure equal outcomes for all its students and graduates, especially those from underrepresented groups. In addition, we work with students and graduates, proactively contacting them by phone to offer them tailored support.

You will develop and support external relationships to maximise employment opportunities for UH students and will manage and co-ordinate specialist careers events both within schools and as part of the central service, liaising with other team members as necessary. You will provide support as required in the communication and promotion of careers and employment events and services. You will also proactively use social media channels to promote the work of the service to engage key stakeholders, for example, employers and alumni, and so that we engage with a diverse range of people as speakers for our events and for motivational case studies. Skills and experience

You will have previous proven relevant experience of careers, placement or work experience advisory work. Experience of providing front line, customer facing service is essential. You will also have previous experience of providing career management skills development and experience of establishing and supporting effective relationships with employers in the context of graduate employment and work experience with stakeholders in the Higher Education sector. It is also essential to have experience of establishing effective relationships with external stakeholders. It would be desirable for you to have experience of careers/placement related work in HE environment.

The successful candidates will have excellent communication skills, be good at building relationships and developing innovative ways of delivering an impactful strategy alongside the wider members of the Service.

Qualifications required

The successful candidate will be educated with a Degree (or equivalent level 6 qualification), or higher qualification or significant appropriate equivalent experience.
