About the Department:

The Careers and Employability Service plays a crucial role in helping students to compete and succeed in a competitive graduate job market. We support students and graduates with the development of employability skills, advice on career options, applying for jobs and work experience, meeting employers and finding graduate job opportunities.

About these roles:

In this role you will lead and develop all faculty focussed work of the Careers and Employability Service to make a significant impact on the employment prospects of our graduates. You will align multifaceted service provision to current and emerging strategic priorities and use a data led approach to ensuring best practice development as part of a programme of continuous improvement. You will manage a faculty based careers team and work closely with colleagues involved in the expansion of employer engagement, providing a coordinated approach across a number of teams.

You will be the senior point of contact and coordination to represent the Careers and Employability Service partnership within a single faculty and oversee management of faculty requests, including placements and work based learning support. In this role you will bring careers and employability expertise to the process of developing, implementing and evaluating faculty and academic department action plans. You will also contribute to the development of strategic Careers and Employability Service projects, including career literacy activities and placement/ internship schemes, to enhance graduate outcomes. 

This role contributes to delivering our programme of careers and employability support to students and graduates including online learning development as part of a digital first approach.

About You

You will have the qualities required to lead and manage teams, services and projects in order to deliver measurable improvements in graduate outcomes.

You will also have:

  • Personal initiative with a solution led approach to problems and challenges together with a drive for results.
  • Evidence of collaborative working within a complex organisational setting and the capacity to be an effective and constructive team player.
  • Good research, statistical and data manipulation skills with the ability to assimilate, interpret, and determine effective recommendations that will have a substantive impact on key objectives.
  • A good understanding of strategies and techniques that will support graduate skills development within a curriculum setting.
  • Experience of working with a diverse range of customers to deliver an outstanding service preferably in a higher education context.
