HBJ Gateley Wareing win careers service engagement award

Law firm HBJ Gateley Wareing has won the AGCAS Award for Excellence in Careers Service Engagement at the TARGETjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards 2011. They were presented with their award by Anne-Marie Martin, AGCAS President, at the awards dinner in London on 31 March.

BSEEN to be a winner in Birmingham

Birmingham City University (BCU) Careers Service has developed two high-quality mentoring programmes to give students a real-life insight into the world of work and enhance their employability. The programmes were shortlisted for both the 2011 Times Higher Education Awards and the AGCAS Awards for Excellence. 

Double win for Birmingham

The Careers and Employability Centre at the University of Birmingham is celebrating recent success, winning at both the National Placement & Internship Awards (NPIA) and the National Council for Work Experience (NCWE) Awards.

Careers and placement teams working together for postgrads at University College Birmingham

University College Birmingham's MSc and Postgraduate Diploma awards in Hospitality and Tourism have proved to be popular with international students. However, the economic downturn was seriously impacting the opportunities available for this group of students to complete a full-time, six month placement module. A revalidation of the programme, amending the optional placement requirement to three-to-six months part or full time, has given students a much wider range of opportunities through which to fulfil the placement requirement, including that of summer vacation work.

Aligning graduate attributes with careers practice at BCU

Jane McAllister and Katie Whitehouse are both careers consultants in the Careers and Employment Team at Birmingham City University (BCU). Here, they explore how careers consultants are working closely with academics to incorporate BCU’s graduate attributes into the delivery of careers sessions in order to make them more accessible to students from enrolment to graduation.
