This three day course aims to provide and equip you with a framework of knowledge and skills (through theoretical and practical perspectives) in order to enable you to deliver advice and/or guidance to clients in the most effective and appropriate manner.
Who is it for?
It is preferable that potential participants will have had six months of experience of working in an information, advice or guidance role.
What will you get out of it?
By the end of the module trainees should:
- have an understanding of the context and stages of advice and guidance work with individuals.
- be able to demonstrate an understanding of the process and basic competence in the process skills involved in managing structured interventions of various durations.
- be able to demonstrate those foundation guidance skills, which are considered core to effective work with individuals in structured guidance interviews.

If you intend to do this course as part of a qualification with the University of Reading, you need to register for the module with the university as well as complete the AGCAS application form (see below).
Once AGCAS has offered you a place on the course, if you haven’t already, you will need to send a completed University of Reading Module Registration Form (see below) as soon as possible, and certainly before the course runs, to the University of Reading (the address is on the form).

For those of you who have heard about the impending transfer of these courses from the University of Reading to the University of Warwick, then please note that the registration process remains the same until the anticipated handover date of 1 August 2010. Until this time all module registrations will take place through Reading.
If you would like to stay at Warwick on the night before the course please contact Warwick Conferencing (Scarman Reception Desk Tel: 02476 221111). Please note that AGCAS will not be involved in these 'extra' arrangements and you will be required to pay Warwick directly.
