We only accept 5 participants onto this course in order to create a supportive, secure and focused environment for learning.

    Emerging Roles within the NHS, Hull

    This session will raise awareness of and provide information about new and emerging roles within the NHS, with particular emphasis on roles relating to the ‘Improving Access to Psychological Therapies’ (IAPT) initiative, such as Psychological Well-Being Practitioners. (There appears to have been substantial investment in improving access to psychological therapies, but it can be a complex area in which to advise students and graduates.)

    The theme of the 2010 Careers Information and Employer Liaison Conference is 'Networks and Networking'.  The conference will take place at the University of Warwick from July 13 to 15 and is open to all AGCAS members, not just careers information and employer liaison staff.

    The Written Word, Sheffield

    This session aims to give participants a greater understanding of some of the career areas where written communication is a key element. It will firstly identify a broad range of careers that feature the written word and look at careers resources and websites that can be used to provide further information. It will then focus on a few of these careers in more detail, such as three or four from Publishing, Journalism, Creative Writing, Technical/ Scientific Writing, Advertising and Patent Attorney. The final line-up will depend on availability of speakers but we will aim to feature careers from both the Arts/Humanities and Scientific/Technical areas.

    This three day residential course aims to give an overview of the main sources of careers information and techniques to assist students with their research. It will cover trends that may impact upon collection policy, resource evaluation & selection and quality frameworks. Dissemination methods, including web content & structure, marketing materials, and web 2.0. technologies, will be examined to enable participants to determine the appropriate balance in their service.
