   There is strong evidence that despite the large numbers of students who graduate each year, employers face skills shortages and need to look beyond the UK to recruit talent (AGR Winter Survey, 2009).

   There is also growing evidence that large numbers of employers do not understand the new immigration legislation and are, understandably, unwilling to risk breaching it. Therefore, these employers are unable to benefit from the talent pool of international students and graduates.

   This FREE PMI-funded one day seminar will:

   • provide employers with information about the recently introduced points based system which will help employers to access the largely untapped international student population already in the UK;
   • demonstrate the proven benefits of recruiting international students and graduates;
   • demonstrate how HE careers services can help all employers in their search for international talent;
   • showcase other organisations who can help employers access international students and graduates;
   • create a network of like minded employers and HE careers services, and other organisations.

   This event will help employers and will also contribute to the international competitiveness of the UK as a destination providing top quality higher education. It will also help provide real graduate-level work opportunities for international students on completion of their studies. This is even more pertinent in a climate where prospective international students are faced with increasing global choice about where to study and consequently must consider all the added value elements of an international HE experience.
