    This three day residential day course aims to give an overview of the main sources of careers information and techniques to assist students with their research. It will cover trends that may impact upon collection policy, resource evaluation & selection and quality frameworks. Dissemination methods, including web content & structure, marketing materials, and web 2.0. technologies, will be examined to enable participants to determine the appropriate balance in their service.

    Intended as an introductory or refresher course for information staff.

    By the end of the course participants should be able to:
    - understand clients information needs .
    - evaluate the quality of the information service provided
    - understand the main sources of information available to careers staff
    - recognise changes in the HE sector and appreciate how these will affect information needs
    - understand the impact of technology on provision of careers information
    - identify and describe different types of interaction with clients .
    - understand the basic skills necessary for such interactions
    - Understand the different methods of disseminating information to clients.

    This course was formerly known as "Working in the Information Room".

    Please note that it would be useful for you to have completed either the "Career Development Theory: Integrating Theory and Practice" module or the "Challenges of Careers Work in HE" module before you attend this course.

    NB: If you intend to do this course as part of a qualification with the University of Warwick you need to register for the module with the university. Once AGCAS has offered you a place on the course you will need to complete a University of Warwick Module Registration Form - please see below - and return it as soon as possible, certainly before the course runs, to the university (address on form).

    If you would like to stay at Warwick on the night before the course please contact Warwick Conferencing (Scarman Reception Desk Tel: 02476 221111). Please note that AGCAS will not be involved in these 'extra' arrangements and you will be required to pay Warwick directly.
