Physics Information Day, London

  1. Wed 02 Dec 2009

This is the second “Physics Information Day” generously hosted by the Institute of Physics in London.

    Who is it for?
The event will be of interest to those who offer information, advice and guidance to students studying or considering studying physics or related subjects.

What will you get out of it?
    The day offers:
    - An opportunity to talk to members of the IOP about how a physics degree has helped them in their careers
    - An opportunity to talk to employers about what they see as the benefits of employing physics graduates.

This year’s event will provide careers service staff with an opportunity to listen and question a variety of speakers and employers in a relaxed round table format:

Vishanti Fox is busy organising an interesting and diverse group of presenters and employers – and we can assure you that everyone will either be a physics graduate with an interesting career path to inspire your clients or employers of physics graduates who can help with all of your questions. Vishanti hopes to have available a post doctoral researcher, a medical physicist and a physics graduate working at the Home Office Scientific Development Branch.

    Confirmed employers are:
    Qinetiq http://www.qinetiq.com/home/careers.html
    CERN http://public.web.cern.ch/public/
    AREVA http://www.areva.com/

Rather than the usual presentations, the format for the day will be round table discussions with every participant getting an opportunity to meet and talk to each contributor and employer.

It would help Vishanti enormously if you can forward her any burning questions you wish to ask – she can then ensure that the contributors are able to answer as comprehensively as possible. Vishanti can be contacted on: Vishanti.fox@iop.org
