  3. Is there a shortage of scientists? A re-analysis of supply for the UK

    This article provides a summary of a series of recent research projects looking at the educational trajectories of prospective science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) professionals in the UK (sometimes the figures are for England). It is based on existing evidence for hundreds of thousands of individuals each year, which allows an examination of patterns of participation in STEM education in a series of snapshots across the educational life course – from compulsory schooling through to when STEM graduates first enter the workforce.

  4. Helping Individuals Succeed: Transforming career guidance

    This reports sets out to identify the characteristics of effective career guidance, the role of new technologies in enhancing this and the part that government and national agencies might play in securing greater quality and impact from the public investment in career services.

  5. Resources Register

    This resource has been produced by the AGCAS Careers Information Specialists Group (CISG) as a way of facilitating discussions between those members who have experience of using a resource/service, and those who are exploring their options with a view to investing.

  6. The Impact of Social Media on Career Management

    This research project investigates the use of social media by students with particular regard to career management and career information needs. The purpose of the survey is to determine whether the current use of certain types of social media, when working with students, is appropriate.

  7. Integrating new technologies into careers practice: Extending the knowledge base

    This UKCES report serves to introduce and analyse some of the key topics relating to the role and potential of technology in identifying effective methods for improving the provision of careers information, advice and guidance.

  8. PMI2 Employability Projects

    Between 2007-2011, AGCAS, NASES, HECSU, The Careers Group, University of London, CIHE and i-graduate delivered a series of PMI2-funded employability projects.

  9. PMI2 International Virtual Careers Fairs 2010-11

    The International Virtual Careers Fairs project, one of the PMI2-funded employability projects run between 2009-11, provided a virtual one-stop-shop for international employers looking for UK-educated talent to meet their skills needs. Three virtual fairs were scheduled for 2010-11, covering a range of types of institutions and areas of the country.

  10. The use of LMI in online career direction and learning

    This report presents the findings from a study undertaken during September and October 2010 by GHK Consulting on behalf of UKCES. It looked at the responsiveness of the online careers market in providing LMI and information, advice and guidance.
