  1. Graduate Employability: What do employers think and want?

    This report is the conclusion of a pilot study of nearly 250 employers by i-graduate on behalf of The Council for Industry and Higher Education (CIHE). Covering large, medium and small employers, the study highlights the skills and experiences employers look for when recruiting graduates.

  2. Break-Out or Break-Up?

    This report examines the role of four HE careers services in relation to their institutions' strategies for employability, enterprise, employer engagement and PDP. The universities examined are Birmingham, Central Lancashire, Lancaster and Liverpool John Moores.

  3. Working Class Students and the Career Decision-Making Process

    This report examines how working class students approach career decision-making. It is based on a study of final year working class undergraduates from Edgehill University.

  4. Career pathways for graduates into the voluntary or community sector

    This report looks at the experiences of graduates who are in a variety of roles and organisations in the voluntary/community sector and provides some useful insights into job seeking in this area. 

  5. Harris Report

    In June 2000, Sir Martin Harris, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Manchester, was invited to carry out a review of the careers services of HE institutions in England. The purpose of the review was to help universities and colleges identify and disseminate best practice across the sector.

  6. Academic Careers in Europe

    This report from the Academic Careers Observatory (ACO) provides an overview of the different national academic systems and academic career patterns in Europe. The report's focus is on those elements that facilitate or hinder academic mobility, both within national systems and across Europe.

  7. A Quick Guide to Age Diversity Issues

    A Quick Guide to Age Diversity Issues has been produced for AGCAS colleagues by the Age Diversity Task Group. The guide aims to answer some of the most common questions raised since the introduction of age legislation in October 2006.

  8. Brunel CD for international students

    Brunel University has produced a CD to help international students identify recruiters who will be interested in their applications for work experience, placements and graduate employment. 

  9. The Assessment Centre (DVD and streaming licence)

    This video shows what happens at a typical assessment centre when a major employer selects graduates taking part in a genuine selection day. We sit in on the selectors' sessions after each activity and discover how they assess the candidates' performance. 

  10. Sector Skills Councils IAG Report 2007/8 Strand One

    This report sets out recommendations for the core information, advice and guidance (IAG) offer of Sector Skills Councils. A key recommendation is the creation of a single web-based careers information resource.
