New liaison officers appointed for construction and biosciences

AGCAS is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Liaison Officers (ALOs) to facilitate the exchange of information between industry and the HE careers and employability sector. ALO appointments have been made for CITB, the national training organisation for construction in the UK, and the Biochemical Society, an organisation working to promote the molecular biosciences. Both organisations are keen to provide AGCAS members with access to up-to-date information on the professions.

Construction industry

The newly appointed ALO for the CITB is Bridget Wells, E-Careers and Employability Adviser for the University College of Estate Management. Bridget will work closely with CITB to ensure that the latest updates from the construction sector can be shared with the AGCAS community.

Lorraine Gregory, Sector Strategy Manager (Careers) at CITB, said:

"The ALO role is instrumental in maintaining a central communication channel, especially in terms of publishing events, graduate opportunities and sharing vital information to career practitioners about the construction industry - the most recent being the Construction Skills Network LMI data regarding demand for the industry."

Biochemical Society

Nikki Abbott, Bioscience Employability Adviser at Sheffield Hallam University, is the ALO for the Biochemical Society. This is a new role and the first time the Biochemical Society has established a formal working relationship with AGCAS.

Hannah Russell, Head of Education and Training for the Biochemical Society, said:

"By working in partnership, we can keep AGCAS informed on the breadth of career paths and opportunities available to molecular bioscientists within academia, industry and beyond. We can also keep you updated on forthcoming training events, conferences and resources as well as benefits for students, early career and other members.”
