    Career information, advice and guidance in Scotland - A framework for service redesign and improvement

    This is the Scottish Government’s report on career information, advice and guidance (CIAG) in Scotland, intended for all partners who are involved in planning and delivering CIAG in Scotland. This is the next in a series of national reports being produced by governments across the UK about the changing role of CIAG. The report is largely focused on statutory services. AGCAS Scotland colleagues are responding to the consultation.

    This guide highlights the growing significance of voluntary organisations as providers of healthcare services, offering rewarding careers in a wide range of health-related roles. The guide includes case studies of 15 voluntary sector providers, such as Action for Blind People and St Johns Ambulance, demonstrating the benefits of working in the sector.

    Career Decision Making and Career Development of Part Time Higher Education Students

    This Futuretrack report to HECSU is based on the findings of a survey of 3,704 part time undergraduate UK-domiciled students conducted in 2007/08. It is the first study of its kind involving a nationally representative sample of part time undergraduates from across the UK.

    Careers in the Landscape Industries

    Careers in the Landscape Industries was an AGCAS training event jointly organised by Manchester Metropolitan University, the University of Sheffield and the Landscape Institute (LI). Marcus Zientek, Careers Adviser at the University of Sheffield and ALO with the Landscape Institute (LI), attended the day, which was organised in reponse to the drive to recruit more students to the profession.

    Case studies of Chinese graduates

    Most of the case studies featured here were generated from UK alumni contacts made during the China visit to Beijing and Shanghai by members of the AGCAS Internationalisation Task Group in 2009. The case studies represent the views of individuals at different stages in their careers.

    Some have provided the information on the understanding that their names and institutions will remain anonymous, while others have been happy for these details to be disclosed (hence the presentation of the information in different formats).
