Getting the First Lecturing Job

This survey, undertaken by the AGCAS Research Staff Task Group, asked experienced academics to identify the key areas they would look for when recruiting for a new lecturer in their discipline. Their responses provide interesting and informative insights into academic career development, which can be used by careers staff to enhance the delivery of careers support for early career researchers. The report can also be used with undergraduate and taught postgraduates considering a research degree as their next option.

The report goes further by introducing the 'Researcher to Lecturer' model, which distils the findings into practical advice for those preparing applications for this academic role.
