Common Best Practice Code for High-Quality Internships
This code has been developed for employers in response to Unleashing Aspiration: The Final Report of the Panel on Fair Access to the Professions. It describes the core elements required in order to obtain maximum benefit from internships for both interns and employers.
It attempts to address social mobility issues, which have been raised by many organisations and individuals, including AGCAS. It addresses remuneration and best practice in relation to the preparation, recruitment, induction, treatment, supervision and mentoring of interns, and certification, reference and feedback.
The code was revised in September 2013 and includes a new foreword from David Willetts, Minister for Universities and Science.
