Working in Edinburgh and the Lothians - A Guide for Graduates
This guide gives a broad picture of the local employment landscape from a graduate's perspective. While it does not cover every possible opportunity in the area, it does focus on the advice of organisations such as Scottish Enterprise (Edinburgh and Lothian) and Edinburgh Brand and uses graduate destination information from HESA (Higher Education Statistical Agency) on some of the main local industry sectors that employ graduates.
Each chapter gives an overview of a particular industry (as it is and how it may be in the future), an idea of recent graduate movement into that sector locally, and tips on job hunting. Where available, the guide also includes general advice from local employers and graduate case studies. There is also a section on sources of help and further resources at the end.
The guide has been written by university careers advisers and information staff at the universities of Edinburgh, Heriot-Watt, Napier, Queen Margaret and Edinburgh College of Art.
